Teen hurt in Dawson Co. crash last month dies from injuries

DAWSONVILLE — A student from North Forsyth High School has died from injuries he suffered in a car crash a month ago.

Joseph Jude Dumphy, who was known as Joe, was a passenger in a car that was involved in a two vehicle crash on Georgia 400 in Dawson County on June 27. The driver of the vehicle was his grandfather, John Joseph Dumphy, who died at the scene.

An obituary for the 15-year-old said he was a member of the varsity golf team at his high school. He also was a member of Chestatee Golf Club and played on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. 

Dumphy died at Grady Memorial Hospital on Sunday; five of the teen's organs were donated after his death.

Funeral services for Dumphy are scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming.
