White County inmate captured in Hall County

CLEVELAND - A White County inmate who walked away from a work detail about noon Monday is back in jail.

Christopher Roy Helton, 37, of Clermont was recaptured without incident in Hall County, said White County Chief Deputy Bob Ingram.

Ingram acknowledged the assistance of the Hall County Sheriff's Office in Helton's capture.

At the time of Monday 'a escape, Helton was on a work detail along with two other inmates. He discarded his inmate jumpsuit.

Helton, a nonviolent offender, has been returned to the White County Detention Center.
