Rabun County standout Woerner commits to Dogs

By AccessWDUN Staff

TIGER — Rabun County do-everything football standout Charlie Woerner gave his verbal commitment to the University of Georgia on Thursday.

The Wildcats senior is coming off a stellar junior season that saw him feature as a defensive back, receiver, running back and on special teams while helping Rabun County to its first outright region championship and first state playoff victory since 1998. Woerner rushed for a team-high 1,143 yards, caught 45 passes for a team-high 659 yards and also led the team with 22 total touchdowns. He also paced the Wildcats with 122 tackles.

Woerner follows a Georgia tradition within his family, as his uncle, Scott Woerner, starred on the 1980 Bulldogs national championship team as both a defensive back and punt returner.
