3 arrested on drug charges in Oakwood, Gainesville

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

GAINESVILLE - A drug bust that began in Oakwood recently ended in Gainesville and led to the arrests of three people, according to the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS).

MANS Lt. Scott Ware says that MANS agents, Oakwood Police Department investigators, probation officers, and uniformed officers with the Gainesville Police Department participated in the July 17 arrests.

Agents arrested Misty McDonald at her place of employment in Oakwood, after she was found in possession of a quantity of synthetic marijuana, Lt. Ware said, adding that a probation warrant was issued for her as well.

He says her arrest led to a search of her apartment at 1360 Otilla Drive in Gainesville.  During the course of this search, Lt. Ware says agents encountered Benjamin Simpson and Zachery Chandler.

He says Simpson had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Hall County Superior Court and was also found in possession of a quantity of synthetic marijuana.  Ware says Chandler was found in possession of a quantity of heroin, synthetic marijuana, Alprazolam, amphetamine pills, a semi-automatic pistol, scales, packaging materials, and money.

The street value of the drugs seized was estimated in excess of $1,361.

Lt. Ware says Chandler is expected to face additional charges.
