Bishop takes slim lead into final round of City Championships

GAINESVILLE — Despite shooting a 1-over par 73, Jackson Bishop was able to keep a slim one-shot lead over Nathan Williams after the second round of the City Championship at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Jackson Bishop finished with a two-day total 3-under 141 while Williams, who shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday, was at 142 heading into Sunday's final round. Lawson King was three shots back at 144 after an even-par 72 on Saturday.

After two rounds of the tournament, the Championship Flight is divided into two divisions based on 36-hole scores. Brad Prestridge is the leader of the Championship B flight shooting 75-86 161. One shot behind Prestridge tied for 2nd place are Ryan Hogan 82-80 and "local long drive man" Jason Chester 86-76. John Jacobs is two shots back 80-83.

The first round for all other flights began on Saturday. Leading the blue tee first flight is a tie between John Payne and Rob Boetz, both opening with 78. Jeff Sanford is one shot back with an opening 79.

Chuck Whitmire is the leader of flight two from the white tees with a first round 82. Scott Head and Larry Lykins are both tied for second one shot back firing 83 on Saturday.

In the 3rd flight, also from the white tees, Jeff Stowe (79) has a thin one shot lead over John Wright (80). A distant five shots behind and tied for third with rounds of 86 are Rick Reed and Ron Beebe.

The final round will tee off on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m.
