Hovey identified as man wanted by GSP following Ga. 365 chase

GAINESVILLE - More information is emerging about the man being sought by the Georgia State Patrol following a chase on Highway 365 and subsequent manhunt Wednesday night.

Officers are looking for Ryan Van Hovey, 28, whose  last known address was 4109 Duncan Ives Drive, Buford.
 
Hovey is wanted for multiple warrants, including fleeing from law enforcement.
 
He was last seen on foot around Highway 365 and Mud Creek Road area in Hall County in the early morning hours of today, July 16.
 
Hovey is believed to be armed and dangerous and could possibly be in the north Hall or south Habersham area.

Capt. Mark Perry of GSP provided details of Wednesday night's chase.

"Last night at approximately 9:35 p.m., a trooper attempted to stop a white Infiniti on Georgia 365 northbound near Howard Road [in Gainesville]," Perry said. "The susepct continued to flee north on Georgia 365 to the area of the Hall/Habersham line, where he turned on an unfinished roadway until he could drive no further due to muddy conditions. He got out and continued to flee on foot."

The trooper pursued Hovey on foot, while other troopers, Hall County deputies, Habersham County deputies and Baldwin police officers set up a perimeter, Perry said. GSP Aviation also resonded to assist in the search.

Troopers say they found ammunition, body armor and drugs in the vehicle.
