ATLANTA — Georgia Lottery Corp. profits for fiscal year 2015 that will be transferred to the state’s Lottery for Education Account will amount to $980.5 million.

This exceeds last year’s transfer by more than $35.4 million, and is a record amount.  As a result, the total raised for educational programs in the state increased to more than $16.5 billion since the lottery’s inception in 1993.

The Georgia Lottery’s fiscal year ended June 30.

“We are pleased to have raised more dollars for education than in any previous year,” said Georgia Lottery President and CEO Debbie D. Alford.
