PEACHTREE CITY — Mother Nature may put on her own fireworks show this afternoon and tonight across Georgia.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City says the best chance of strong storms will be from noon until 10:00 tonight. The storms could produce winds as high as 50 miles-an-hour, locally heavy rain (with some minor flooding), and frequent lightning. While severe storms are possible in north and central Georgia, the strongest storms are likely in south Georgia, along and south of a line from near Columbus to near Augusta.
Meanwhile, a flood watch remains in effect until 8:00 tonight for north Georgia where the ground is already saturated because of heavy rains that fell Friday and Saturday.
