GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville Police Department is hoping the offer of reward money will prompt someone to come forward with some information in a homicide that happened at a city apartment complex last month.
Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said Thursday afternoon Gainesville investigators have teamed up with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta to offer a reward for information in the murder of Philip Ronald Smith.
"Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta is offering up to a $2,000 reward for information into the death of Philip Ronald Smith," said Holbrook.
Smith was found dead from a gunshot wound the night of June 15, 2015. His body was found outside the "N" building of Atlanta Street Apartments after 11 p.m. on that date.
Holbrook said investigators feel certain someone in the apartment complex saw or heard something that might lead them to Smith's killer.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or visit the Crime Stoppers website. You may also text tips to “CRIMES” (274637). Holbrook said tips may remain anonymous.
