Gainesville company named to list of top 300 U.S. investment firms

By AccessWDUN staff
GAINESVILLE — The Financial Times, a London-based international business publication, has named Gainesville-based Willis Investment Counsel to its 2015 list of the top registered investment advisers in the U.S.

Willis Investment Counsel is one of 300 U.S. investment firms to make the annual “FT 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers” list. In Georgia, only 13 investment firms qualified for the ranking and only two are located outside of Atlanta, with Willis Investment Counsel being the only one north of metro Atlanta.

According to Financial Times, the FT Top 300 “identifies the industry’s best advisers while accounting for the firms’ different approaches and varied specializations.” The average amount of assets under management of the FT 300 firms was $2.6 billion.

“We are certainly honored to be recognized internationally by such a respected publication as the Financial Times of London,” said Bob Willis, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Willis Investment Counsel.

Released in June, the FT Top 300 list of independent investment advisers is researched and compiled independently by the Financial Times in partnership with Ignites Research. Criteria to be named to the list include amount of client assets under management, asset growth, years of operation, compliance record, professional certifications of key employees, and online accessibility for clients. No fee is paid for consideration or inclusion in the FT 300.

Founded in 1979, Willis Investment Counsel is the largest independent investment management firm north of metro Atlanta.
