Parker surges to FASTRAK victory at Toccoa Raceway

By Wesley Outland

Ron Parker of Bellwood, N.C. was the class of the field in Saturday night’s FASTRAK Racing Series feature at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Ga., as he held off Matt Long and David McCoy to score the victory and the $2,000 pay day.

It was the first time back at the historic 5/16 clay track for the series after a two year absence.

The action was broken up early, as the caution flew on lap one when Adam Smith spun in turn one. On the restart, Parker moved to the lead, with Matt Long, Frankie Beard and Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance in pursuit. The caution would fly two more times for single car accidents.

Parker remained out front, and was looking to cruise away to the win. The fourth and final caution flew after Nathan Bray bounced off the wall and stalled, setting up an 18 lap duel to the finish.

Back under green, Parker moved back to the lead, and worked to hold off a late push by Long and McCoy. Parker powered away to take the win, with Long in second, McCoy in third, Beard in fourth and Colby Cannon in fifth.

All results are unofficial until certified by race officials.

The next stop for the FASTRAK Racing Series will be on Friday July 3 for the third annual Charlie Mize Memorial at the Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Ga.
