GAINESVILLE — Brenau University’s Master of Interior Design and Master of Fine Arts student exhibition opens at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta on Thursday, June 11, 3 - 5 p.m. , with an awards presentation at 4 p.m. The exhibition takes place in the museum’s Greene Family Education Center, in the lower level of the Stent Family Wing.
The exhibition features the portfolios from students graduating with a combined Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Interior Design degree, and also features portfolios from students graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design. This was the first terminal degree offered at Brenau in 2010. The interior design graduate program teaches students to focus on advanced evidence-based design and research, as well as develop skills in college level teaching.
“This year’s graduating class includes a variety of outstanding graduate studio projects,” said Lynn M. Jones, chair and professor of interior design at Brenau. “Retail, healthcare, hospitably, museum and corporate office design projects highlight the talent and diversity of our MID graduates. The MFA students have completed extensive research on a design for an educational building in rural Rwanda and research into multi-generational interior design firm dynamics. The projects are lively; the students engaged.”
Eight students will have their portfolios displayed and will be presented with awards for their designs. The Bachelor of Fine Arts & M.I.D. students are Abigayle Berryman from Jefferson; Amanda Dunahoo from Winder; Brittany Chunn-Jones from Buford; Jill Mansfield from Gainesville; and Yanyu “Winona” Wang and Mengqiu “Autumn” Zhao from Zhengzhou, China. The Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design students are Shelly Hughes from Marietta and LaJuana Gill from Nashville, Tennessee.
This is the seventh year that Brenau has had this exhibition in metropolitan Atlanta and the fifth at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
