HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- A banner year for the University of North Georgia athletic department was capped with a third place finish in the Peach Belt Conference's Commissioner's Cup, awarded annual to the league's top performing department. The third place finish is the highest in school history for the 12-sport Nighthawk athletic department since becoming full-fledged members in the 2005-06 season.

Armstrong State won the award for the fourth consecutive year with a .741 success ratio. The Pirates accumulated 97 points out of the maximum 131.
The PBC Commissioner's Cup is determined by calculating the number of points possible to each school, given the number of sports they participate in, divided by the number of points earned during the year.

Points are determined by placement in the final regular-season standings in each of the PBC's 15 championship sports.

Columbus State finished second in the standings at .6634 after winning titles in men's cross country, women's soccer and women's basketball. North Georgia was third after winning both the baseball and softball regular-season championships while Georgia Regents came in fourth.
