GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville Poilce Department is ready for area teens to sign up for the 2nd Annual Junior Police Academy.

The Junior Police Academy program is designed to provide young adults between the ages of 14 and 18 with basic information about law enforcement and police activities. The program is presented by the Gainesville Police Department as part of its Community-Oriented Policing initiative. Its ultimate objective is to establish a positive relationship between the youth and law enforcement representatives in our community.

The police department is certain that the program will pay dividends to improve the quality of life for area teens. Furthermore, the department hopes the students will use the information they learn to help educate both their immediate family and fellow teens within their neighborhoods and schools about law enforcement activities and state and local laws.

The JPA will begin on Monday June 8th and continue through Friday the 12th from 8:30am to 4:00pm. The registration deadline is May 25, 2015.

Registration forms are available on-line at www.gainesville.org/junior-police-academy in the front lobby of the police department or by calling Corporal Kevin Holbrook at (770)-287-0893.
