CLEVELAND - Several fire units were dispatched to an apartment fire at 1000 Campbell St., in Cleveland Friday night.
Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said they were dispatched at 7:27 p.m. after residents of a couple of others apartment units called 9-1-1.
Cleveland police arrived on scene first and reported heavy smoke coming from the apartment.
"Cleveland fire units made a quick interior attack and knocked the fire down," Pruitt said.
According to Pruitt, Cleveland fire investigator Charlie Bryson determined the cause of the fire was a discarded cigarette on the sofa.
No one was home at the time the fire started and no one was injured.
The American Red Cross is assisting the occupant with immediate needs.
In addition to Cleveland fire units, automatic aid from White County Fire Department and Helen Fire Department responded.
Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department was canceled while en route.
