GAINESVILLE - The Fight For Air Climb is more than a walk. It's more than a run. It's a unique challenge, an adventure... a chance to go vertical with hundreds of participants in the American Lung Association's 2015 Fight For Air Climb Atlanta.

The event is held to raise awareness for the 35 millon Americans who suffer from asthma and other lung diseases.  This year, Hall County Fire Services sent a team of six firefighters to tackle the 51 floors of Atlanta's largest vertical competition.

It involved a climb to the top of One Ninety One Peachtree Tower in downtown Atlanta.  Firefighters competed in full structural firefighting gear: boots, pants, and coat (with liners intact), helmet and gloves. You can sprint, jog, walk or crawl...any way you can get up the stairs, but you get to take the elevator down.  The Hall County team brought home two first-place trophies and two second-place trophies for their "appropriate age" categories.

All funds raised at this event stay in Georgia and go to benefit research, education and advocacy for clean air and help fight lung diseases.
