GAINESVILLE - More than 20 Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club paddlers are headed to Oklahoma City for the U.S. National Team Trials Friday and Saturday.
There are 21 paddlers who call the LCKC their home team that will be competing for positions on the U.S. National Junior and Senior teams. A spot on those teams will earn them a berth in the international competition to be held this summer.
The Lanier Canoe Kayak Club, a legacy program of the 1996 Olympics for flatwater sprint canoe/kayak, has been home to dozens of athletes on the U.S. National team over the past 20 years.
"We are extremely proud of all our athletes and look forward to LCKC and Gainesville, Georgia, being represented on the world stage in 2015 and beyond," said LCKC President Terry Baker.
