GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department has been awarded a traffic enforcement incentive grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grant is non-matching and fully funded by the GOHS.
The department received the $10,000 grant in recognition of its lifesaving work in assisting the GOHS with the state's year-round seat belt, speed and impaired driving campaigns.
The money will be used to fund traffic safety equipment for the department, according to GPD spokesman Kevin Holbrook.
