Dublin, Ga. schools plan training after complaint about Obama comments

DUBLIN, Ga. (AP) A Georgia school superintendent says he's advised a teacher not to take political positions in conversations with students following a complaint from the parents of a student at Dublin Middle School.

The parents, Jimmie and Stephanie Scott, tell The Courier Herald of Dublin that a teacher made disparaging comments about President Barack Obama and told students that he is not a Christian.

The Dublin newspaper reports that it contacted the teacher and her husband, and that they declined to comment.

Dublin Schools Superintendent Chuck Ledbetter said he's also acting on suggestions by the student's parents that more training is needed for teachers. He said faculty members will participate in training in July that will address such things as how to build effective relationships with students.
