While most everyone else is enjoying the annual Spring Break, area baseball teams will be hard at work this week as they head down the final stretch and jockeying for playoff spots and positioning jumps into high gear.
Soccer, tennis, track and golf are taking the week off before cranking back up next week.
Monday offers some huge games for several regions. Weather rolling through north Georgia, however, could have a say in the results. There is an 80 percent chance of rain throughout most of the day but most coaches will wait until the afternoon before deciding on whether to play or postpone their games.
In Region 8-AAAAA, Clarke Central travels to Flowery Branch and Gainesville plays host to Loganville is two crucial contests with playoff implications. The Red Elephants dropped their first game with the Red Devils on Friday and need a win to get back in the hunt for a region title.
In Region 8-AAAA, ,Buford plays host to Madison County and Chestatee plays host to Stephens County. North Hall travels to Johnson.
In Region 7-AAA, East Hall, which is red-hot having won seven straight, travels to Banks County and West Hall travels to Lumpkin County.
On Tuesday, Jefferson plays host to cross-town rival Jackson County in a key Region 8-AAA contest. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at Jackson County.
The big matchups on Wednesday will be Gainesville heading to Winder-Barrow and Flowery Branch traveling to Salem in a pair of huge Region 8-AAAAA matchups. The two matchups will then head back to Hall County on Friday.
Also on Friday in Region 7-AAA, East Hall will travel to West Hall and Lumpkin County will play host to region-leading Franklin County in the key matchups. In Region 8-AAAA, Chestatee travels to North Hall.
