Hall Co.: New Ga. 365 traffic light becoming operational

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Department of Transportation is activating a new traffic signal on Georgia 365 north of Gainesville Thursday.

The light, at the Ramsey Road intersection, is scheduled to become operational at mid-morning.

"Once the signal is operational, be cautious until you get familiar with the changes. Remember, other drivers may be surprised by the new signal so give yourself plenty of space between you and the driver in front of you," said Georgia DOT District Traffic Engineer, David Olson.

The signal is currently in a "flashing" mode.

The intersection, like the one at Howard Road in that same part of Hall County, has been the scene of numerous accidents, some of them fatal, over the years.

In May 2012, GDOT wrote then-County Commission Chairman Tom Oliver saying that it planned to install intersection warning beacons and a traffic light at Howard Road. At the same time, the agency said that at the request of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce and nearby Kubota Manufacturing Company it would evaluate the Ramsey Road intersection to determine if a traffic signal and other improvements were warranted there.
