Baseball: North Hall tunes up for No. 1 Buford with win over Stephens Co.

GAINESVILLE -- Corbin Lewallen had two hits and four RBI to lead a 12-hit North Hall attack as the Trojans rallied from an early deficit to beat Stephens County 8-3 Monday in a key Region 8-AAAA contest at Jody Davis Field.

The Trojans (11-4, 6-2 Region 8-AAAA) completed the season sweep over the Indians (9-7, 4-4) and stayed in second place in the region standings with the victory.

Stephens County led 2-0 in the second inning before North Hall took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second. The Trojans added three runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 7-2.

The Indians cut the lead to 7-3 in the top of the fifth but North Hall answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Drew Atha went 4 2/3 innings and worked out of several jams. He surrendered five hits and walked five and struck out three. Aaron Miles pitched the final 2 1/3 innings yielding just one hit and fanning four.

Miles and Drew Coker each had two hits for North Hall. Taber Mongero, Micah Strickland, Lincoln Hewett, Atha, Fowler Brooks, and Matthew Cox all had one hit for the Trojans.

North Hall will travel to No. 1 Buford on Wednesday for the first two games against the Wolves, who are unbeaten in region play. The two teams will play Friday in Gainesville.
