TMC athletics announces Chad Hibdon as Lady Bears basketball coach

By staff reports
CLEVELAND -- Truett-McConnell College women's basketball has announced the hiring of Chad Hibdon of Murfreesboro, Tenn., a two-time high school state-championship winner to take over the Lady Bears program.

Hibdon coached Blackman High into a national power and was named USA Today national girls basketball coach of the year in 2014 and led the Lady Blaze to Class AAA state championships in 2014 and 2015; the team was named national champions by USA TODAY, MaxPreps and ESPN in 2014. He is a three time District Coach of the Year recipient, a two time Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Coach of the Year recipient, and an A.F. Bridges TSSAA Coach of the Year recipient. Coach Hibdon has also been involved with college recruiting as 15 of his players over the last 10 years have signed college scholarships.

Hibdon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Truett-McConnell women's team. While at Blackman High, Hibdon worked on creating an atmosphere in the program of commitment, stewardship, tradition and a sense of pride that enveloped the school and local community; their mission was to give, grow, love and win -- something that is evident by his teams continued success throughout his tenure there from 2008 to 2014.

Hibdon received his Masters of Education from Lipscomb University and his Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Middle Tennessee State University. He is married to wife Lea, has a three year old son, and is expecting their second child soon.

A press conference to welcome Coach Hibdon to Truett-McConnell is currently being scheduled.
