Fire leads to temporary closure of CDC lab

By The Associated Press
DECATUR, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a lab at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention near Atlanta was closed Wednesday after a fire in the facility.

CDC spokesman Tom Skinner said that the fire started around midnight Tuesday in Building 18, which houses about 470 employees. No injuries were reported.

Skinner said the cause of the blaze was under investigation.

Skinner said there was no release or loss of containment of any germs in the fire.
