GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department is investigating after a two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a motorcycle driver Friday night.
According to Cpl. Kevin Holbrook, authorities were called to E.E. Butler Parkway near Monroe Drive in Gainesville around 11 p.m. Friday in response to a motor vehicle accident.
Holbrook said a preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle had failed to yield right-of-way to another vehicle, described as a Ford Expedition, leading to the collision.
The driver of the motorcycle, a male whose name has not been released, was later taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment but would eventually succumb to his injuries.
Holbrook noted that the driver of the SUV, whose identity is also unknown, was arrested on scene and charged with DUI.
