Gainesville school home to this year's state reading champions

GAINESVILL - The Centennial Arts Academy is this year's state reading champion.

Coached by Kathy Anglin, the team is made up of Matthew Baker, Assistant Coach Dallas Thompson, Ella Grace Lawler, Wiley Hickerson, Samuel Holt, Turner Edmondson, Will Barrett, Kerrigan Gruhn, Ali Patrick, Alyssa Woo and Caroline Bruner

Centennial won the championship at the recent annual Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. The competition, held at the UGA conference center in Athens during the Georgia Children's Literature Conference, came down to teams from Centennial and St. Mary's. Centennial won 150-110.

This is the second year Centennial has wont the state title.
