CLEVELAND - The occupants of a mobile home at 490 Highway 75 South in Cleveland had to be evacuated and a section of the road shut down Saturday morning as a result of a liquid petroleum gas leak at the residence.
Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said they responded to the location at 9:34 a.m.
Upon arrival, the department staged away from the area of the leak while White County Sheriff's Office and Cleveland Police shut down a section of the road near the leak due to gas vapors covering the area and drifting down the road, Pruitt said.
According to Pruitt, gas company workers arrived on scene and were able to get the leak stopped.
The fire department used gas monitors to check the area until the levels were in the safe range.
Pruitt said the road was re-opened to traffic at 10:52 a.m. and the residents of the mobile home were able to return.
