MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) A father and son from Gainesville have been sentenced to prison following their conviction on racketeering charges.

Prosecutors say millions of dollars were stolen from a 93-year-old Cobb County widow, Frances Perkins.

Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said 41-year-old Jeffrey Thomas Carr on Tuesday was sentenced to 10 years in prison plus 30 years of probation. He was ordered to pay $3.4 million to the woman.

Prosecutors said his father, 67-year-old Joseph Thomas Carr, was also sentenced to two years behind bars and several years of probation. He was ordered to pay $363,000 in restitution.

Reynolds said Perkins and her late husband had acquired several acres of land in east Cobb County. They say Jeffrey Carr engineered the sale of the land and swindled Perkins out of millions of dollars.
