GAINESVILLE - In honor of the grand opening of its new Gainesville store last week, Verizon Wireless presented a $1,000 HopeLine grant to the Gateway Domestic Violence Center.

Founded in 1982, Gateway Domestic Violence Center provides emergency shelter and services to victims of domestic violence in Hall County. HopeLine is Verizon Wireless' exclusive nationwide phone recycling program that distributes previously owned wireless phones to victims of domestic violence, supports non-profit domestic violence advocacy groups and provides an environmentally safe method for recycling phones.

Jonathan LeCompte, Georgia/Alabama region president for Verizon Wireless, said
"We are committed to the communities where we live and work. It's important that we support organizations at the local level, and we are honored to help the Gateway Domestic Violence Center continue their great work assisting those affected by domestic violence.

The new story is located 679 Dawsonville Highway.
