GAINESVILLE -- Elizabeth Fischer had four goals, including a hat trick in the first half, to lead the Gainesville girls soccer team to a 10-0 whitewash of Cedar Shoals Friday in both teams' Area 8-AAAAA opener.
Alyssa Turner and Madi Lochstampfor each added two goals and one assist for the Lady Red Elephants (4-1, 1-0 Area 8-AAAAA).
Margaret Carpenter had one goal and one assist and Breana Fair had one goal for Gainesville. Gaby Nunez and Dallas Robson each tallied one assist for the Lady Red Elephants.
Alondra Wedding got the win in goal for Gainesville, which outshot Cedar Shoals 37 to 10 for the game.
Gainesville is off until Tuesday when it will play host to Winder-Barrow at 5:30 p.m. in another 8-AAAAA match.
