DANIELSVILLE -- The Chestatee tennis teams were finally able to open their 2015 season Friday but both teams dropped close 3-2 decisions on the road against Madison County.
For the girls, Grace Brown and Natalie McNitt both took straight-set wins for both of the Lady War Eagles points. Haley King dropped a three-set match at No. 1 singles.
Holly Baxter and Paulina Manriquez lost a three-set match at No. 2 doubles while Ireland Stackhouse and Maddie Myers lost in straight sets at No. 1 doubles.
For the boys, Chestatee won both doubles matches but could not break through in singles. Reed Johnson and Barron King won a tough straight-sets match at No. 1 doubles 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) while the No. 2 doubles team of Austin Passmore and Logan Gruenenfelder rallied from a set down to win in three sets.
Tyler Burgess, Hasten Haynes, and Fletcher Siegfried all dropped straight-set matches in singles.
