Spanish organist Raúl Ramírez sets Piedmont concert March 15

By Staff
DEMOREST - Internationally acclaimed concert organist Raúl Ramírez of Madrid, Spain, will present a concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 15, on the Sewell Pipe Organ in the Piedmont College Chapel in Demorest. The concert is free and everyone is invited.

Ramírez is the first Spanish organist in recent times to establish himself among the elites of the international concert scene. His powerful personality, passionate expressiveness, gift for communication, and outstanding technique make him shine with a unique light among the new generations of the concert artist scene.

At age 27, Ramírez was appointed as the first Organist-in-Residence of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid-Spain's National Concert Hall. Within the first six months of his appointment, he increased attendance at the hall's organ recitals 30 fold, and critics hailed him as one of the most exciting talents in the music scene in Spain.

Ramírez is now a successful concert organist with a busy global schedule that takes him to major festivals and concert halls-from the Mariinsky Theater and Moscow House of Music in Russia, to organ dedications and major venues through Europe and the U.S. Since 2013, Ramírez has served as the organist in residence at Sursa Concert Hall and on the organ faculty at Ball State University. He is also the artistic director of the annual summer International Organ Festival in Barcelona, where he attracts audiences of more than 1,200 people to his concerts.

For the Piedmont concert, Ramírez will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt, César Franck, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Charles Marie Widor.
