GAINESVILLE -- North Hall rallied to tie the game in the seventh but then gave up two runs in the eighth to fall 5-3 to North Gwinnett Monday at Jody Davis Field.
It was the second straight game for the Trojans (1-1) against Class AAAAAA opponents. They knocked off North Forsyth in their season-opener on Saturday.
Lincoln Hewett had two hits and drove in Micah Strickland to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh with two outs.
But North Gwinnett scored twice off relievers Jake Chester and Aaron Miles in the top of the eighth.
Starter Josh Hammond went five innings for North Hall but got a no-decision.
Chester went 2 2/3 innings and Miles got the last out in the eighth.
Tabor Mongero had three hits and Strickland had two hits, including a home run, and scored twice for the Trojans. Corbin Lewallen also had two hits for North Hall.
North Hall next will play a three-team doubleheader on Tuesday taking on East Hall at 4 p.m. and then Lanier at 6:55 p.m. at home.
