Gainesville Police 'arrest' Elsa for winter weather

GAINESVILLE - City police issued an "arrest" warrant for Queen Elsa of Arrendale (from the popular Disney movie Frozen) for extending winter weather into this week.

Elsa turned herself in to Gainesville Police Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. Police planned to extradite her and gave her a one-way ticket to Hawaii.

"We've been looking for Elsa specifically since last week," said Cpl. Kevin Holbrook. "Gainesville was hit hard with winter weather and we have more on the way."

"Being from Arrendale, I just love winter weather, and it's just hard to control my powers sometimes," Elsa said.

Holbrook said Elsa faced charges of extending winter beyond the allowed winter time period.

Elsa, however, thinks that since kids love snow days, parents should just "let it go."

"Turn on Frozen, let your kids watch it as many times as they want and run around the house singing 'Let it go' and 'Do you want to build a snowman?' and maybe even go outside and build your own Olaf," Elsa said.

Holbrook and the other officers presented Elsa with her one-way ticket, her punishment for extending winter. Elsa said she plans to bring Olaf with her to the island and maybe bring some winter weather with her.

DISCLAIMER: The "arrest" was all in good fun. The plane ticket was not real, and Elsa, as a fictional character, was not actually arrested. No patrol officers were taken from their routes to perform this arrest.

Elsa was supplied by The Magical Jeff McClure.
