Hall Co. park closed due to ice storm damage

GAINESVILLE - Hall County's Laurel Park has been closed because of damaged caused by this week's ice storm.

County officials say the park, located off Cleveland Highway in North Hall, will be closed "until further notice" because of fallen trees and downed power lines "throughout the park."

However, Parks & Leisure Services Director Mike Little says no structures, such as picnic shelters, picnic tables, playgrounds, etc., were damaged.

"We were lucky," Little said. "Lots of trees and limbs down at all of our parks but no structures were damaged."

In addition, Parks & Leisure Services phone lines are down until further notice.
