Female death row inmate makes last meal request

By Staff
ATLANTA - Kelly Gissendaner is still on track to be the first woman executed since 1945 in Georgia next week. Now, she has officially requested her last meal, according to state prison officials.

The Department of Corrections said earlier this week she has asked for two Whoppers with cheese, two large orders of fries, a salad, cornbread, cherry vanilla ice cream, lemonade and popcorn.

Gissendaner, who is from Winder, was sentenced to die for plotting with her boyfriend to murder her husband in 1998. Douglas Gissendaner was found murdered alongside a Gwinnett County road.

Gissendaner's boyfriend testified against her at trial in exchange for a life sentence.

Gissendaner is scheduled to die by lethal injection on Wendesday, February 25 at the state prison in Jackson.
