GAINESVILLE - An organized effort has been launched to promote passage of the sales tax extension which will be voted on in a referendum March 17.

Proponents of passage of the SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) have created the Hall Progress 2015 Committee to spearhead their efforts. A Facebook page and Website have also been set up with detailed information about what will be on the ballot and how money raised by an extension of the tax is to be used. (See link below.)
Though there is no known organized opposition to passage of the issue, some people have expressed their opposition at public meetings and in other forums in recent months.
