Region 7-AAA: East Hall, Banks boys, East Hall, Dawson girls earn finals berths <b> (VIDEO) </b>

East Hall's Jacquen Hopkins helped lead the Vikings into the Region 7-AAA finals Friday night.
CARNESVILLE -- The East Hall and Banks County boys team took lopsided wins along with the Class AAA No. 1-ranked and undefeated Dawson County girls Friday in the semifinals of the Region 7-AAA Tournament at Franklin County High.<br />

Meanwhile, the East Hall girls stunned second-seeded Banks County to also advance to Saturday's finals at Franklin County High.<br />
<br />
The Lady Vikings will take another crack at Dawson County in the finals at 6 p.m. The Lady Tigers beat East Hall twice by a combined total of just 10 points during the regular season. The Lady Vikings are riding a four-game win streak.<br />
<br />
The East Hall and Banks County boys will play for the title at 7:30 p.m.. The Vikings beat the Leopards by six in Homer and by 11 at Valhalla.<br />

<b>EAST HALL GIRLS 57<br />

The Lady Vikings led early, trailed at halftime, and then rallied for the upset win.<br />
<br />
East Hall got balanced scoring. Ashlyn Ellison led the Vikings with 12 points and Kyla Mize and Carly Winters chipped in 11 points each.<br />
<br />
East Hall (17-9) opened the game with a 14-9 first quarter but Banks County (22-5) outscored the Lady Vikings 17-11 in the second quarter to take a 26-25 halftime lead.<br />
<br />
The Lady Vikings then used a 15-8 third quarter to retake the lead and pulled away in the fourth quarter for the victory.<br />
<br />
East Hall coach Justin Wheeler said he was pleased with the aggressiveness of his team.<br />
<br />
"Our team is naturally aggressive," Wheeler said. "But sometimes you have to spent the first 30 min of the game telling them to calm down."<br />
<br />
Kaitlin Duncan paced Banks County with 25 points.<br />

<b>DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 72<br />

The Lady Tigers (26-0) started slow leading just 19-11 after the first quarter. But they exploded over the second and third quarters outscoring the host Lady Lions (15-12) 42-23 to take a 61-34 lead into the fourth quarter.<br />
<br />
But the Lady Lions did not go quietly. They stormed back in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback.<br />
<br />
However, it was enough for Dawson County coach Steve Sweat to be forced to call timeouts.<br />
<br />
"I had to call time outs to calm them down," Sweat said. "I told an assistant it's one of the ugliest wins we've ever had."<br />
<br />
Sheyenne Seabolt and Karlie Bearden paced Dawson County with 20 points each. Haley Burgess and Ashley Parker had 10 points each for the Lady Tigers.<br />

Franklin County was led by Maddie Moorhead and Bree Teasly with 13 points apiece. Manazia Merrit added 12 points for the Lady Lions.<br />

<b>BANKS COUNTY BOYS 77<br />

The Leopards exploded for 57 points in the second and third quarters to overcome a slow start to get the victory.<br />
<br />
Lumpkin County (9-18) led 12-9 after the first quarter but Banks County (23-4) used a 27-13 second quarter advantage to take a 38-25 halftime lead. The Leopards blew it open with a 28-7 third quarter.<br />
<br />
Zez Steeple led Banks County with 19 points. Kamal Wiley added 14 points for the Leopards.<br />
<br />
Justin Heskew led Lumpkin County with 13 points. Jack Howard had 11 points for the Indians. <br />
<br />
Banks County coach Mike Cleveland said they are ready to see if they make the third meeting with the Vikings the charm after two regular season losses.<br />
<br />
"We expect a battle," Cleveland said. "They have nine guys you have to watch out for, especially Kyvon Davenport."<br />

<b>EAST HALL BOYS 86<br />
FRANKLIN COUNTY 58</b><br />

The Vikings came in wary of a Lions team pushed them to the limit last week in the season finale. But a 29-point second quarter helped them pull away by halftime and they cruised to the victory.<br />
<br />
East Hall (21-5) led just 22-14 after the first quarter but exploded for 29 points in the second quarter while Franklin County (12-15) finished the first half with just 29 points.<br />
<br />
The Vikings added to their lead in the third quarter and cruised the rest of the way.<br />
<br />
Jacquen Hopkins led East Hall with 20 points. Triston Cooper added 18 points, Kyvon Davenport 16 points, and Tyler Brown had 10 points for the Vikings.<br />
<br />
Keandre Morrisson led Franklin County with 20 points. Colten Bridges added 11 points for the Lions.
