GDOL to help Big Creek hire workers for Gainesville plant

ATLANTA --The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will help pet-food manufacturer Big Creek Foods hire about 20 workers for its facility in Hall County later this month. <br /> <br /> The recruitment will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the GDOL's Gainesville Career Center, 2756 Atlanta Highway in Gainesville. <br /> <br /> The company is hiring workers to process and package pet foods. <br /> <br /> Due to U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old. They must also have a high school diploma, or a General Education Diploma (GED), and a Class C driver's license. While experience in the food industry is preferred, an applicant's work experience in a manufacturing environment may range from one to two years, depending on the job. <br /> <br /> Salaries range from $8.50 to $15.50 an hour, depending on the type of job and experience of the applicant. <br /> <br /> The company will conduct background checks and drug-screening tests on selected applicants. <br /> <br /> Applicants may request a referral to a job by visiting any GDOL career center, or going on-line at www.gdol.ga.gov and clicking On-line Services, then Job Search. Always include the job order number in the search.
