KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The case against former University of Tennessee and Gainesville High School linebacker A.J. Johnson will be presented to a grand jury.
The announcement from the Knox County District Attorney General's Office came late Tuesday afternoon, according to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Johnson and Michael Williams, who plays defensive back for the Volunteers, are both accused of rape by a 19-year-old student at a party Johnson hosted at the Woodlands Apartment Complex in South Knoxville following the team's 50-16 win over Kentucky.

Williams faces another sexual assault charge in the case from another woman.

Attorneys for both men say they welcome the charges, and that their clients are innocent.

Police completed their probe nearly two months ago, turning over their findings on December 12.

Both players were suspended indefinitely following the incident.
Johnson graduated in December; Williams is enrolled in classes this spring.
