Girls basketball: N. Forsyth avenges loss to S. Forsyth but loses coin flip

COAL MOUNTAIN -- North Forsyth avenged an earlier loss to cross-county rival South Forsyth Friday night with a 55-49 win in both teams' Region 6-AAAAAA season finale.<br />

The two teams finished tied atop the region standings but South Forsyth (21-4, 16-2 Region 6-AAAAAA) won the coin flip and will be the No. 1 seed from the region.<br />
<br />
The Lady Raiders (22-3, 16-2) outscored the Lady War Eagles in every quarter but the fourth but was able to hang on for the victory.<br />
<br />
South Forsyth led 8-3 early but North Forsyth used a 14-2 run to grab the lead 17-10. The Lady Raiders eventually pushed their lead to 26-15 in the second quarter. The Lady War Eagles used a 9-2 run late in the second quarter to cut the lead to 30-24 by halftime.<br />

North Fosyth opened the second half strong to run out to a 42-30 lead midway through the third quarter. South Forsyth never went away eventually rallying to get within 51-49 with 28 seconds left but could not get any closer.<br />

Caroline Bowns paced North Forsyth with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Lochlain Corliss added 14 points and Sydney Pefanis had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Raiders. <br />
<br />
South Forsyth was led by Sarah Myers with 20 points and eight rebounds. Ally Welch added 13 points and Kenyatta Storms 10 points for the Lady War Eagles.
