Annexation, rezoning OK'd for plant expansion in Flowery Branch

FLOWERY BRANCH - The Flowery Branch City Council is expected to take a final vote early next month on annexation of eleven acres on Thurmon Tanner Parkway where a business expansion is planned.

John McHenry, the city's Community Development Director, confirmed Friday that the council Thursday night approved first reading of the annexation request and a companion rezoning application.

FriconUSA currently has a production facility located in Oakwood South Industrial Park on McEver Road but needs room to expand.  The company now employs 20 people and with the expansion plans to add another 30 workers over the next three years.

The council is expected hold second reading and take a final vote on the matter January 7. According to its website http://www.friconusa.com/, FriconUSA manufactures equipment for industrial and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning.
