DEMOREST — After spending the first six games and nearly a month of the season on the road, the Piedmont College women's basketball team looked right at home in their first contest in the friendly confines of Cave Arena knocking off NC Wesleyan College 80-64 on Tuesday.

Piedmont raced out to an 8-0 lead over the opening two minutes of the game feeding off the Cave Crazies for the first time this season, but the Battling Bishops settled in to close out the quarter only trailing by one. The two teams went back and forth in the 2nd quarter with four lead changes until Piedmont closed out the period on a 14-1 run not allowing a bucket from the field to the visitors over the final four minutes of the 2nd.

With Piedmont up six at the intermission, NC Wesleyan came out firing in the 3rd as Kenyata Harris warmed up scoring back-to-back field goals for five of her game-high 22 points as part of a 7-0 run to begin the 2nd half helping the Bishops to a one-point lead, 38-37.

However, it was all Green and Gold from there as Piedmont picked up buckets from four different players including a crowd-thrilling three-pointer from Jatasia Bailey that put the Lady Lions back up 10 as part of a quarter-closing 23-6 run from the home team.

The Lady Lions went on to cruise to their third straight win taking the 16-point victory over the Bishops marking the second straight season that Piedmont has opened the home portion of its schedule with a win as PC knocked off Mary Baldwin by 47 last season to start the home slate
