GAINESVILLE — Georgia's First Lady will be at the Northeast Georgia History Center on Monday, December 14 to sign copies of her new book about the Governor's Mansion.

Memories of the Mansion: The Story of Georgia's Governor’s Mansion, co-authored by First Lady Sandra Deal, is a history of the Georgia Governor’s Mansion told through stories and experiences of the First Families who’ve lived there. The authors worked closely with the Maddox, Carter, Busbee, Harris, Miller, Barnes and Perdue families to include their memories and behind-the-scene photos of life in the Mansion.

“The Mansion belongs to the people of Georgia, and this book is an effort to share and preserve its rich history,” Deal said. “All homes have a story to tell, and the Governor’s Mansion is no exception.”

Co-authors Jennifer Dickey and Catherine Lewis of Kennesaw State College will also be on hand to share their experiences in preparing this unique story.

A brief presentation by the authors will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available in the History Center museum shop, and light refreshments will be served.  The event is from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Northeast Georgia History Center is a regional museum and education facility dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of northeast Georgia. It is located at 322 Academy St NE in Gainesville.
