Wanted Gainesville man escapes authorities following chase on Hwy 365

GAINESVILLE—A Gainesville man is wanted after authorities say he sideswiped a Hall County Sheriff's Deputy's patrol car and forced it into a guard rail on Highway 365 Saturday afternoon.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes, authorities got a tip saying Cody Jett, 24, of Gainesville—already wanted for fleeing authorities in Forsyth County—was at the Racetrac gas station on Howard Road shortly before 3:00 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they attemped to make contact with Jett, who fled the scene, hitting a parked vehicle on the way out.

As deputies pursued Jett north on 365 near Cagle Road, the suspect sideswiped the patrol car, and forced it into the guard rail.

Jett continued north, where deputies lost contact with him. He was driving a black, 1999 Honda Accord that now has extensive body damage.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
