Authorities clear, then close Georgia Gwinnett College campus

LAWRENCEVILLE - Georgia Gwinnett College officials said the buildings of the school in Lawrenceville had been cleared, and the campus was closed as of 2:35 p.m. Monday.
 
The campus had been on lockdown since around 11:00 a.m. Monday as police searched for the suspect in a murder that happened near campus. 
 
Campus officials had been posting update's through the college's social media accounts.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Lawrenceville Police were looking for a murder suspect in a fatal shooting in some apartments near the school. Police were searching for 43-year-old Sheldon Soyer in the death of his wife, 47-year-old Vanessa Soyer, according to the paper.
 
Lawrenceville police Captain Jeff Smith told the Associated Press that police consider Soyer "armed and dangerous," but they didn't know whether he was on campus.   The victim was discovered around 9:40 a.m.
 
"The alleged shooter’s description and last known direction of travel indicated a risk to this campus," GGC President Dr. Stas Preczewski wrote in an afternoon social media statement.
 
"Guidance for the reopening of campus will be forthcoming as the unfolding situation indicates," Preczewski added.
 
At 2:15 p.m., college officials indicated meals would be delivered to residence halls on campus during the afternoon.  All classes for Monday were canceled.
