GREENSBORO — Rabun Coumnty capped a 21-point first quarter with a pair of touchdowns just 13 seconds apart en route to a 34-0 win over Greene County Friday night in both teams regular season finales.
The Wildcats (9-1, 6-0 Region 8-AA) scored on their first possession with Bailey Fisher connecting with Eli Gipson on a 23-yard touchdown pass midway through the first quarter. Fisher set up the score with a 34-yard run to the Tigers 23 the play before.
Greene County (5-5, 3-3) looked poised to tie the game driving to the Rabun 34 but was stopped on downs. The Wildcats answered with an 11-play, 67-yard drive capped by a 7-yard Fisher pass to Jack Johnson for a 14-0 lead with 2:36 left in the quarter. The Tigers fumbled the ensuing kickoff at their 30 and then Fisher connected with Charlie Woerner for a 30-yard touchdown pass on the next play for a 21-0 lead.
Fisher later found Alden Wright for a 17-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to push the lead 28-0 and Gipson capped the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Fisher finished 19-of-26 for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns for Rabun County. Woerner had six catches for 93 yards and Dilyn Nichols had eight catches for 92 yards for the Wildcats.
Rabun County, which finished the regular season with a nine-game win streak, will take the No. 1 seed into next week's Class AA playoffs and play host to Bremen in the first round.
