WASHINGTON — Union County football clinched the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AA courtesy a 43-21 win over Washington-Wilkes on Friday in Washington.
Panthers quarterback Joseph Mancuso continued his resurgence, putting up four touchdowns -- two rushing (10 and 26 yards) and two passing (43 and 56 yards). Sam Gilbert and Knox Kiernan caught the scoring strikes from Mancuso.
Meanwhile, Union County running back Bo Lynch also rushed for two scores.
Gilbert and Josh Daniel also each picked off Washington-Wilkes passes in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers will play host to Bowdon in the first round of the Class AA playoffs next week.
