UNG women's soccer downs Flagler, advances to PBC semifinals

By UNG Sports Communications

DAHLONEGA — Two goals in the first 21 minutes led the second-seeded University of North Georgia women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over No. 7-seed Flagler Tuesday evening at the UNG Soccer Complex. The Nighthawks move to 14-2-1 with the victory and advance to the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the fifth time in the past six years.

Rachel VanHorn got North Georgia on the board first in the fourth minute of the game with a powerful strike from the top of the box off a great ball from Jade Pennock over the right back. The spin from VanHorn's shot was too much for the Flagler keeper to handle as it spun through her hands to find the back of the net.

Jacy Ramey scored what would end up being the deciding goal in the 21st minute finishing an excellent cross from Megan Gil with her right foot to put the Nighthawks up 2-0. Jess Fassnidge scored Flagler's only goal just eight minutes later finishing Makensie Danaher's original shot from the top of the box.
