Referendums being held today on creating two new Ga. cities

By The Associated Press

Voters today are deciding whether to create two new cities in DeKalb County.

The votes will determine whether LaVista Hills and Tucker become the state's newest cities.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/1NogFr4) that if voters approve both cities, they would take in more than 100,000 DeKalb County residents.

If voters approve, LaVista Hills would have more than 67,446 residents.  Tucker would have a population of about 33,300.

If approved, LaVista Hills and Tucker would become the Atlanta area's eighth and ninth new cities since Sandy Springs incorporated in 2005.
